Simple the idea is to make our lives miserable in order to create a crisis that will require an even larger Government .

Because our government is more concerned about foreign diplomacy that it is about the welfare of its citizens. If we freeze immigration (and at the same time secure our borders to deal with those immigrants who choose not to use the proper path to being here legally) the international community would like us even less, and more than anything those in power now want those warm fuzzies.

Oh, yeah, that's right. We are . . .wait! Aren't we America? When did we change into "stay outta here, loser foreigners"? Oh, that's right. The neo-cons are striving for the US to become Brazil North, with them at the top.

Well, lets take Old Lady Liberty Down and reassemble her in Hollywood so they can make movies still about the American fiction.

Families with money from other countries will often send representatives (father, son, daughter) to America to start new business. If the business is successful, the rest of the family will follow later. It is a source of new tax revenue for the government.

Because the bleeding hearts in this country are stuck in the early 1900's when our motto was, "Give Us Your Tired and You're Poor." That was fine when the country was being built and there were more than enough jobs and no one who came over on the boat and landed on Ellis Island expected us to learn their languages and hand them freebies.

They are needed to expand the Ponzi schemes supporting the politicians' protection rackets. Ironically most immigrants now expend more than they produce because too many still are overpopulating. Their excess children consume more than the parents produce. That's what impoverished their homelands and forced them to come here. It's now helping impoverish us too.

The real issue is "illegal" immigration, which a government freeze will not affect.

As to "legal" immigration, the government has quotas which it can adjust based on "need" for workers.

Because the Democrats need the votes..illegal or not

Why do we need immigrants, to do the cheap laboring jobs that our own nationals wont do, they would rather live on the unemployment benefit. Wether you like it or not, we need them, they help keep goods and services prices down. Immigrants work for cheap, increasing productivity so you and I can have a comfortable life, next time you see one, say thanks to him/her.

I've asked myself this. Apparently other countries rely on us to provide a certain number of jobs to their people so their unemployment wont go up. If i was going to guess, I'd say it was in treaties.
