I really don't think its a question of short term memory because November is right around the corner. As for unemployment benefits, I think this is more of a question of ethics. It is no longer an issue of unemployment it's an issue of backing the american public. I'm employed but I also own a business and with 10% of the country not buying it hurts me to. If this is the greatest recession since the 30s then extraordinary times for extraordinary measures. Plus you've got the families of these unemployed worker not buying either. this is the true problem. Wall Street bail out...GM bail out...No to John Q public. There is something morally wrong here.

Ummm Mainstream what? Media? Laugh Out Loud! Because the mainstream people support the war, and the effort to reduce federal spending on what should be a state run program.

If you really want to help the unemployed...get rid of the $1 Trillion Obamacare program and all the bailouts! (Bush's too...) They never should have gone through to get us into this much debt. Can anyone speak Greek?

Yes, they really think the mainstream has a short memory, and our internet and texting culture is only making those memories shorter. Look at how many people have forgotten that 9/11 is the reason we fight in Afghanistan or have forgotten that our economy went to pot before Obama was even elected president. As a people, Americans have short attention spans, jumping from trend of the week to trend of the week.

What about out of control spending do you not understand? When does the government spending stop. The private sector pays for that spending. Get over yourself. If you think that is the only hard decision that is coming down the pike you are dead wrong. I can't wait until we can cut government by 50%. Then you'll hear some whining.

  • Since 90% of American are employed and paying for those who are not, what makes you think that it will matter? Two years is more than enough time to find a job!

No they have long memories.. and they remember that if Obama hadn't destroyed their jobs, they wouldn't need unemployment.

They think Republican voters don't get unemployed. Stats suggest otherwise.
