How soon does one feel dry socket symptoms?
Okay,
So i had my 2 upper wisdom teeth removed this morning, and around 2 hours after, I had a McDonalds Strawberry milkshake, which i drank with a straw. My dentinst didnt mention anything about avoiding straws, just hot food. So i thought it was okay, then I checked online and found out i shouldnt have used a straw o now im scared.
I was stitched up, but some say that does not prevent dry socket.
How do i know if i have it? how soon do i feel it?
I dont feel any pain now (after 6 hours) and there is no huge swelling. Im scared when i wake up tomorrow i'll look like a chipmunk with a painful dry socket.
please help!

Dry socket takes between 24 and 48 hours to develop. You would know if you had it, because the pain would be severe. But, I can almost guarantee that you don't have it.
Also, dry socket is 95% more common in lowers than it is in uppers. And is almost unheard of when sutures are placed. It does not make your face swell up but can make your breath pretty bad. But as the other assistant has said, you just return to the dentist and a medication will be placed in the socket to help it heal.

You should be ok.
Dry socket is not super common, but can happen and they want you to be aware of it.
If you do develop dry socket, you will have serious pain. It wont just be a little sore. If it does happen, just call the dentist and go back in. They have some medication they place into the socket and makes it feel better right away.
Dont worry, just avoid straws for about a week.
Good luck!

I am not a dentist, but I have had every dental procedure available. If you had your wisdom teeth out on Friday, and today is Wednesday, it is most likely you will not have any complications. You should be over any pain. You could have had a bit of tissue or dried blood left over, or it could be food that accumulated in the site. If you are not feeling any pain, and you don't have excessive bleeding, you should be fine. Hopefully, you got out all of your wisdom teeth so you won't have to go through this again.
