To figure out this problem you need to perform several unit conversions using dimensional analysis.

To start we know that you have 100 atoms per second and you want to know how many atoms in one year so:

    100 Atoms Ag/second x 31536000 second/year= 3153600000 atoms Ag/year

Now was need to figure out how to convert that to grams. The first step is to convert to moles Ag then to grams Ag:

    3153600000 atoms Ag/year x 1 mole Ag/6.022 x 10^23 atoms x 107.86 g Ag/mole Ag = 5.648 x 10^-13 grams Ag

    Last convert grams to dollars:

    5.648 x 10^-13 g Ag x $50/1 g Ag = $2.824 x 10^-11

This is a very small amount and Alex really isn't donating anything!

In order for him to donate $50 in a year he would have to donate 1.77 x 10^14 atoms of silver per second!

    6.0221415e^23 atoms in a mol/ 107.826 g per mol of Ag = 5.58287e^21 atoms/g Ag

    1 yr * 365 days/yr * 24 hrs/day * 60 mins/hr * 60 seconds/min = 31536e^3 seconds in a year

    so 31536e^3 seconds in a year * 100 atoms donated/second * 1 g/ 5.58287e^21 atoms * $50.00/ g Ag=

$2.82435 e^-11, not such a generous sum after all.

The dehydration of a million-butanol will provide a mix of butenes, so which you may get a mix of dibromobutanes. the greater useful technique could be to do the removal to offer in basic terms a million-butene. this could be executed with an acetate or xanthate pyrolysis, yet that chemistry isn't in all textbooks. If no longer then convert the alcohol to its chloride with thionyl chloride. in case you cope with a million-chlorobutane with KOtBu, the main product would be a million-butene and n-butyl t-butyl ether as a minor element. Bromination of a million-butene will provide a million,2-dibromobutane.
