Do colleges really care about extra curricular activities?
Well I'm busy with sports all year round, so I never really have time to join clubs & other activities. Does this mean that I don't have a good chance of getting into college?

Sports are always good.
We also like to see ECs that somehow support your proposed major. If you are going into math or sciences, for example, join one of those clubs.
4 years of the same language is a HUGE enhancement to your application.
And of course your SAT or ACT scores are critical - probably the most important single application consideration.
Good luck to you - when you get your ACT or SAT scores, go to one of the free online search services and see which schools are admitting students with your credentials. Apply to at least three, and make sure one is in your State-supported system. That way you will have choices when those skinny and fat envelopes start arriving.

Sports are considered extra-curricular activities. In fact, if you're the team captain or an outstanding player, college recruiters may come to you!
All colleges look at your academic resume for GPA, class rank, courses taken (AP, Honors), SAT/ACT scores, extracurricular activities, internships/volunteer work, work experience, personal statement, teacher recommendations and college interview. They like to see leadership/founding of 2-3 clubs over membership in 10.
Best of luck!

Sports would count as an extra activity. Any thing that is not a part of your regular academic work
