what hair care product is the best to put up my hair with?

Currently i am using the Axe pomade but during the winter, it works perfectly fine but in the summer, with the heat, it falls down. i use it to put my hair up in a semi-spiky style. I like it when my hair isn't super crunchy. what would be the best for my hair, wax, hairspray or what? and what stores could i buy em from and for how much?

Try krew comb in the jar or experiment with a traditional butch wax such as lucky tiger cru butch. Stix fix design polish is about the stiffest butch wax there is. If too much wax is used it can be difficult to shampoo out. This method works: lather up hair with straight shampoo before getting in shower. Rinse in shower and shampoo hair again as one normally does. Wax does not form a stiff hold like a gel but leaves hair soft and combable if used in moderation. Lucky Tiger and Stix Fix are available at random barber shops, barber supply houses and also on line. Just have to call around. Lucky Tiger has a website. Krew comb is available at some walgreens and all sally beauty supplies. Cost is usually six dollars or less. Another issue is if the hair is not cut as a short pomp(pompadour) style-crew cut, ivy league(long crew cut), flat top crew cut- meaning the top hair is not graduated longer in length from the back of the crown to the front hairline to defeat the downward slope of the skull to the front hairline, the natural direction of hair growth and gravity and allow the short pomp front to readily form. It can be much more problematic to get a butch or brush cut(long butch) to stay up and can take much more wax, than it does for a short pomp style.

Some barbers describe an ivy league as a crew cut just long enough to be parted and combed to the side, if so desired. An ivy league can also be worn with the hair brushed up off the forehead to form the short pomp front, or with the short bangs brushed down on the forehead like a forward brush cut.

    Essential barbering knowledge:

Grooming any of the short pomp(pompadour) styles- crew cut, ivy league, flat top crew cut- is basically the same and takes about a minute or two.

    1) Towel dry hair.

    2) Barely dip fingertips in jar of wax.

    3)Transfer wax to palms.

    4) Smooth palms over hair.

5)Brush hair off forehead to form short pomp front.

Whichever style you decide on, be sure to take a photo to help describe the desired haircut to the barber. If you need more photos of any of the styles discussed above, let me know.

    Good Luck!
