Dentist teeth whitening or teeth bleaching safe?

I am thinking of teeth whitening / teeth bleaching my teeth soon at the dentist.

It is part of a promotion, so it will be for free and would like to take advantage of it.

Is this procedure safe...

Will my teeth be sensitive for the rest of my life?

Will my teeth become weaker?

Any teeth whitening / teeth bleaching testimonials or experiences good or bad please.

Thank you in advance!

It is safe enough, my friends recently got it done. Her teeth aren't sensitive or any weaker. Also you have to be careful make sure you get a licensed practitioner. Heard of some woman who got her teeth whitened on a cruise and then after a few days the chemicals ruined he teeth and they become worse than they originally where.

Bleaching can have side effects. The dental technicians at my dentist's office say they take Tylenol afterwards for the discomfort. My teeth are too sensitive to do in office whitening. Even whitening strips are too strong. Some people do develop sensitivity after bleaching. A toothpaste like Sensodyne can be used to stop the pain. Some people need it only for a short while but you can use it for the rest of your life. If this is an established dentist with good credentials and a good reputation, you should feel comfortable. Ask about side effects and long-term problems. If this is a way for a new dentist to get patients, I'd ask around first, see if there are any comments on yellowpages.com or if there is an Angie's List for your area--they've added medical categories. Make sure the dentist is licensed with the state. Every once in a while they find an unlicensed doctor or dentist in my area. It is always wise to check with the dental association and the state licensing board for complaints. Also, ask how good a candidate for this procedure you are with your particular tooth strength. You do realize that unless you watch what you eat and drink, the treatment will have to be repeated down the road, for some people, as soon as 6 months. Do some reading.

My dentist recommends Crest Whitening Strips and he does in office whitening and sends trays home, too.

After much deliberation and debate the process of teeth whitening has been deemed both safe and effective. In fact the Hydrogen Peroxide or Carbamide Peroxide as bleaching whitener for your teeth whether teeth whitening at home or professional teeth whitening In-office.

Teeth whitening not caused any cancer

Teeth whitening not damage the nerve endings

Teeth whitening can reduce the hardness of tooth enamel

Teeth whitening can cause sensitivity to your teeth or gums

The most commonly side effects to Hydrogen Peroxide or Carbamide Peroxide are tooth sensitivity and occasional irritation of the soft tissues in the oral mucosa, particularly the gums. In most cases, sensitivity results from an ill-fitting tray rather than the tooth-bleaching agents. The sensitivity is temporary and stop after teeth whitening treatment.

there are some way for teeth whitening for sensitive tooth, u can check it

We recommend that use an in-office desensitizer before teeth whitening, which is a paste that can be directly applied to your teeth in a single visit. The in-office desensitizers can offer months or even years of relief from tooth sensitivity.

When drinking beverages like coffee, tea, sodas or dark wines, try to sip water along with them. Drinking these kinds of beverages regularly can causing the teeth to become stained. Drinking water simultaneously can help you keep your mouth as clean as possible. Brushing teeth after these beverages will also help with stain prevention.

Watch what you eat after having your teeth whitened.Teeth that have been recently whitened absorb stains more readily. Stay away from dark pigmentation once your teeth whitened. Coffee is one beverage that can be absorbed by your teeth once it has soaked in.

Unfortunately your teeth will become weaker because of the Peroxide used. The best way to have white teeth is the use baking soda, but you will get results in 3 or more weeks.

It's safe. bleaching only changes the color of your teeth. It doesn't remove anything like the enamel.
