which os to buy for my ipod touch? is it os3?

Also I was confused whether the new iphone 4 supports a new os and if so whether that is the one i should download instead of the os3.

if you could also link me to the apple site concerning the same, i should b thankful

and also i read somewhere that os4 is only compatible for 3g. is that correct?
