How long does it take a melted snowflake in the mountains to reach a drinking fountain in downtown L.A.?

    I would estimate it to take a week as the snowflake when melted will combine with billions of other melted snowflakes that take time to flow out of the mountains and end of at a drinking fountain in downtown Los Angeles.

    You would need to calculate the time of concentration for the watershed. Use a GIS program with topographic lines to map the watershed from the reservoir. This would get you started. Keep working upstream mapping each watershed until you reach the drainage area the snowflake landed.
