What do you think about people in parades throwing candy on the ground for children to pick up?

This was not done when I was a kid and I think it is disgusting. We try to teach our children NOT TO PICK UP THINGS FROM THE GROUND and here they are tossing it out to them LIKE DOGS.

What do you think?

And do you have children?

It sort of goes against teaching them not to take candy from strangers.

I guess I never looked at it that way, but I believe in the 3 second rule when it comes to candy thrown on the ground. That's why the kids rush to pick it up before their 3 seconds is up. I have 5 kids and just took them to the 4th of July parade 3 days ago where they got a ton of candy and they had a lot of fun!

i totally agree with you. i do not like to see little kids picking up candy from the ground. especially candy that you put in your mouth. that is unsanitary. and no, i do not have children. i have 2 younger brothers and younger cousins. but although, you do see adults picking up candy in the parade, that's a bad influence on their children.

I think it would be fun...though admittedly, I don't know what you be talking about! Like others are pointing, those must be wrapped up! Why, I would tell my kids to participate...why stand stiff on the side arrogantly, LOL!

I am all for allowing kids to play in mud and getting soiled...toughens them :) But then my culture is different from yours! Here we throw coins on happy occasions like wedding...while taking bride home in a car.

My only worry would be that it shouldn't cause a stampede!

Oh Please! Don't you say that...like dogs?!? Let kids have all the pleasure and thrill of counting who gets mostest!

Yes! I have children...healthy and happy, all grown up. They had been instructed well, but not restricted :)

Officialdom and random discovery is not the same thing, but when in doubt, I guess not. Disgusting? Not for me; I find it rather gusting.

When I was a kid, that was always my favorite part of parades. Besides, they're individually wrapped, so it's not like they get dirty.

I think it's just like feeding the ducks at the park.

oh please, I wouldn't pick normal candy up off the ground, but in the case I am being tossed candy in a parade there is no problem.

I was tossing candy once and they wouldn't let us throw because it would 'hurt people' so we had to hand it to them...so stupid.

i'm a teen and i think its sad, its like watching a hobo pick from the trash, don't toss that good hamburger out, hand it to him or don't buy one at all (ok that made more since in my head, but if you understood, cool)
