Why do people list things on Ebay for more than I would pay in the store?
And why would anybody bid? A quick search will tell you that I can buy the item cheaper. For example, American Girl items are often marked up on Ebay, which I understand if it is retired, but currently available items are listed for more than the website.
I'm talking about when you can just go to another website - like the American Girl website - The Starry doll carrier is $58 new and available, it's listed for $68 plus shipping on Ebay. Huh?

Ebay is not necessarily a "discount" store. Ebay is for convenience, someone may not be able to or may not want go to the store to get the item, therefore they are willing to pay more as it is more of a convenience for them to simply shop online. Or maybe certain items are not available in their area. Prices also vary from store to store and state to state.
Maybe they do alot of out of country sales?

Lots of people have no idea how to search properly & will just bid on the first listing they see. I dont understand it myself. I think they are under the impression that if its on ebay it has to be a bargain.
I was after a dvd boxset recently, looked at ebay thought no way - too expensive found it on Amazon for 60% less & brand new. I was quite happy with that bargain :)
