    Calculate the total distance covered divided by the total time it took to cover that distance.

    Total distance:

    (252 km/h)(0.5 hr) + (36 km/hr)(1.5hr) = 180km

    Total time

    (0.5 + 1.5) hours = 2 hours

    average speed = (180 km) / 2 hours = 90 km/hour

    For Question 2--- NEXT TIME, PUT INTO ANOTHER QUESTION. I almost missed this one.

    The time that you traveled is 3 hours (from 3:00 to 6:00)

    Speed is 88 km/hr

    Distance - (88 km /hr)(3 hr) = 264 km

    New odometer reading: 600 + 264 = 864 km

    1st Phase:-

    t1 = 0.5 hr

    =>s1 = v1 x t1 = 252 x 0.5 = 126 km

    2nd Phase:-

    t2 = 1.5 hr

    =>s2 = v2 x t2 = 36 x 1.5 = 54 km

    Average speed(v) = (s1+s2)/(t1+t2)

    =>v = (126+54)/(0.5+1.5)

    =>v = 90 km/hr
