Did the PGA tour make a mistake in the setup at 2010 John Deer Classic?

Considering Paul Goydos shot a 59, and Steve Stricker was one putt from another 59 on the same day while in the history of golf, only three other 59s were shot.

Update:

Yeah, Charlie Tuna, that is exactly my intentions?

Seriously, man.

They wanted to make a low scoring tournament because the wanted to have some exciting play and more people watching. And Stricker had to hole out on the last hole to get a 59. Anyways they wanted to get some attention, but they realised it was too easy so they made the greens faster, move the tees back, didnt cut the rough, and that made the course harder, but the bigger hitters still did quite well, Boo Weekley and Mark Hensby had the low rounds in the 2nd Round, but it helps because they're big hitters.

How inane is this question? Charlie Tuna is right and if that is your intentions as you say you have had 59 strokes yourself. It has been 370,000 rounds in the PGA since the last 59 and what happened then? After the 59 and Stricker's 60 the next best was 64 and 110 teed off. What happened to the rest? (Billy Mayfair shot 77).

Given all the talent practice and visualisation that goes on can't someone just shoot their lights out?

the pga can control courses however they like . But the one thing they'll never get to control <unless they play indoor courses > is the weather. They had so much rain leading up to the event that everything was soft and slow . Lift clean and Place was in effect but more importantly was the ability to go for the stick cause as soft as the greens were they'd hold every shot on. But Goydos derserves his 59 as he rolled several putts in from 25 feet or more ! Not an easy task especially when the greens are slow . Every millimeter further back you go with your putter stroke compounds less than perfectly hit balls. Historically the first two days usually have easier flag locations and as the tourney wears on they tighten up locale.

This has always been the event that the PGA 'hopes' that someone will post a 59. The PGA ,I feel, are doing a good job setting up most of these courses according to the speed and difficulty they are looking to achieve.

So no, I feel that the PGA knows what it's doing when they set up these golf courses for these events.

Or, did they hope for scores like this to increase interest int he event and have move TV viewers? This event never plays hard, the fairways are always fast and the greens are always soft.
