Are you using Internet Explorer?
Your fundamental strategy should be intrusion PREVENTION: achieved with a layered defense.
Keep 'automatic browser action' out until you approve it. A minor pain in the adz when compared to re-formatting & data loss or compromised banking & credit card info.
Stop using Internet Explorer!
Instead, use Firefox, with 'NoScript' add-on; "locked down" settings; set as default browser, with all Microsoft installed rubbish (hacks) disabled; look in Tools> Add on's> Extensions & Plug-in's. (NET framework, Windows Presentation Foundation, Shockwave, Silverlight, Java stuff, or other active scripting rubbish.)
My personal Firefox Collection, for improved security, and a tad bit of 'appearance' mod's. here:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/collectio...
Use a "Limited User" account and "Sandboxie": http://www.sandboxie.com/
for even better protection.
Core defense applications might include (but not limited to):
Avast! (anti-virus); http://www.avast.com/free-antivirus-download
or Avira.
"MalwareBytes" works for rubbish already plaguing you.
Always incorporate a stout firewall: Some freeware is here: http://www.snapfiles.com/Freeware/security/fwfirew...
Look them over and match your needs to skill level.
SpywareBlaster (snoopware prevention and hostfile guardian); http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.htm...
If you don't have time or skill for all this (plus 'updating'), have a look @ "Secunia": checks all your 3rd party & OS version for updates.
Freeware.

Most novice users do not like hearing this, but nonetheless, it's true: using Windows requires you to become a security expert, it's that simple.
Windows has been 'oversold' to a hoodwinked general public, and is badly broken on many levels.
Something they conveniently omit telling you when you buy this system...
Making all these changes seems overwhelming, and it is a pain in the keester; BUT IT MUST BE DONE.
Either that, or use Linux for all Internet work.

Some rogue security software, however, propagate onto users computers as drive-by downloads which exploit security vulnerabilities in web browsers, pdf viewers, or e-mail clients to install themselves without any manual interaction.
More recently, malware distributors have been utilizing SEO poisoning techniques by pushing infected URLs to the top of search engine results about recent news events. People looking for articles on such events on a search engine may encounter results that, upon being clicked, are instead redirected through a series of sites[6] before arriving at a landing page that says that their machine is infected and pushes a download to a "trial" of the rogue program.
Thats basicly how.
Anyway, idk what you have, but it obviously isnt working to well. I recomend these.
FREE:
Avast pro anti virus 30day trial (fast set up so just reinstall) EXCELLENT
Malwarebytes anti malware (free is basicly a full, just no flash scan. big deal) EXCELLENT
Spybot Search & Destroy (freeware. no trial no buying) EXCELENT has teatimer also, a registry protection program
Spywareblaster (freeware also) EXCELLENT active webshields for spam and such
this is a powerful combo. hard to be beat by a virus, rootkit, malware, rouge programs etc.
