Can I delete the homebrew channel on my wii, and then update it?
Hi. I am currently on Wii Firmware 4.2, and I had to delete some of the IOS files so I could install some WADs. But I want to get rid of the Homebrew Channel and update it because I don't want to worry about my wii being bricked. Can I just uninstall DVDx and the Homebrew Channel, and then update to 4.3?
I just want to restore my wii to way it was.
I.E. No more homebrew...
I would still be able to play backups since I had a modchip inside of it before I did this.

Here is why you SHOULDN'T update, do not update: http://wehackwii.pbworks.com/Firmware
Instead of installing the 4.3 update, install BootMii as boot2 and create a NAND backup just in case your Wii bricks and you could recover it, good idea.

i think updating just deletes all homebrew stuff, including any wads you've installed. also, the latest update was primarily to get rid of modifications to the wii. update 4.3 is pointless. it only makes it harder to install homebrew.
if, though, you still want to update, and get rid of homebrew, i would suggest uninstalling homebrew channel, DVDx, as well as bootmii (if installed). the update process will take care of the rest for you.
