Why is LeBron James joining the Miami Heat a surprise?

Championships don't mean anything when the teams are stacked. Mj is considered one of the greatest because he made everyone else around him great. When Shaq left the Lakers, Kobe didn't leave, he stayed and helped develop his teammates. I could see if he wasn't getting along with the cleveland personnel. It just seems like he's all about self. Players don't respect that Now he'll have a reputation of "well if my teammates don't play well, then I'm outta here". That's not a good attitude.

If you were watching the last game between the Celtics and the Cavs this year, you noticed that not only was Lebron pissed but also that he took off his shirt in disgust and threw it hard to the side as he headed for the locker room. Win or lose, he was headed for Miami in search for a dynasty type team. He wants championships bad and he could not cover up the fact that his mind was all made up since before the start of the season. It's not the money anymore for him. He got tired of his team not being up to the challenge under the "spotlight". To me, he is a player that is able to have great games that can carry a team. Now, he expects to be a great player that will help him get wins, period!

He knows that time is going by and that since there hasn't been a good supporting cast and a great coach in Cleveland. This is so planned on his part and to tell you the truth, I don't blame him for wanting to win big without having to carry the whole load by himself. Then again, I don't think that a ring is "automatic" yet. It's not like they are the only team with 3 great players and also, they need to know who will lead and who will follow.

Sometimes, players and owners think that, by creating a "superstar" cast, the rings will start raining on you. Just take the 03 Lakers for example with Derek Fisher, Gary Payton, Shaquille O'neal, Karl Malone and Kobe. They came up empty that year that was supposed to be an automatic Title.

Everyone from Cleveland is just mad because he left his city. He should have went to the Bulls because they are a better team and they have bench players.
