Are opinions on Y!A only worth 2 cents?

I have wondered why Y!A only gives 2 points for answering but a dime (10 points) for Best Answer. Are they trying to say opinions are only worth 2 cents?

When you've put a lot of thought into your answer and your answer still doesn't get chosen as Best Answer are you disappointed or are happy with the two points for trying?

Opinions on YA are not worth two cents, or twopence (tuppence) as we say in the UK. Many answers are opinions, and some quite sincere and wrong. I believe it is the research and exercise of the mind that is most important, and you can learn as much in answering as in asking questions. The points as a competitive spur, attract a lot of frivolity and one word answers simply to shock or amass a high total.

Answers may have a truth the questioner doesn't wish to hear. Questioners may award best answer for so many personal reasons, for instance, an answer clearly in mind from the outset.

I have thought that more points for best question (as voted) might motivate those who never question and feel obliged only to answer questions in their speciality. It can after all be more difficult to present an original question than to answer with specialist knowledge.

  • In the majority of cases, the answers are worth even less than that.

I really do not even care about the points at all. My reason for being here is to attempt to correct the false beliefs that many Christians here have, because of the failure of the churches that they have attended to rightly divide the word of truth.

After being busted back to zero points, the only concern I have is to get enough points to thumbs-down answers given by morons and trolls.

my best BA average since 2008 has been 4% and I am almost at level 7. I have answered a lot of questions at two points a pop.

it is the best game on the internet, I am just killing time.

I think not all the answers deserve to get high points, and they have to differ between an normal answer and a best answer that's why best answer get 10 points .

i'm semi domesticated, i assume. i do no longer knit, crochet, wish I knew a thank you to stitch and if something should be ironed my husband does it. I do shop an extremely clean homestead(the toddlers and that i stay out of the homestead as much as a possibility, so it definitely continues to be clean!), dinner is often homestead made and arranged no later than 6, I continually have clean vegetables and fruit shrink up for trouble-free get entry to and my toddlers and that i are continually out at the two the park, coastline, library, river, zoo, or nature centers:) i admire being a SAHM:)

Since this is a knowledge seeking site and not opinion site I just give the facts sought and move on.

Don't look back. The user can accept any answer they want.

no. they are giving you 2 points for helping, giving your opinion etc.. but a question should be answered and the answer that helps the asker or voters most has been usually more researched or etc.. - therefor a reward for working hard and helping out.
