Do you mean customs? Is your final destination the United States? You should be doing all your security at GIG (Rio de Janeiro). At PTY (Panama City), you will simply transfer to your plane bound to LAX (Los Angeles).
CM...you're traveling with Copa Airlines? Usually their airplanes land and take off at the same terminal. So, yes, transferring flights in 90 minutes is possible.
