Red for the Rising Sun on the Japanese flag, and the Cherry Blossoms aka Sakura. White for Mount Fuji.

the words, soft, pretty, delicate, pure and white come to mind when I say Sakura

I associate the colours red, white and black with Japan, and anything intricate and flowy, like Koi fish, kanji and kimono

I also think of the band Ikimono Gakari, whose debut single was Sakura... anyone reading this, Youtube it now! Its such a beautiful song

Sakura - pens. It's a company that makes drawing pens, I believe. It is also a cherry blossom (I think), because the logo on the pens appears to be a cherry blossom. I would associate minimalist, modern things with Japan.

Some things I personally think about are...Kabuki plays, tea ceromonies, Samurai warriors, Yakuza (Japanese gang), advanced technology, high population, Fugu and other unique Japanese dishes, modesty and politeness, Jpop/Jrock music which is getting increasingly popular in other countries, -Harajuku, Ganguro/Yamanba, lolita, and decora fashion-, anime/manga which is very popular today, Purikura (popular Japanese photobooth), Origami paper folding, etc.

Colours I think of are simply Red and White, like the official flag of Japan.

I don't know what Sakura is, but it reminds me a the alcoholic drink made of rice - Saki. ( I don't know the correct spelling). I associate the colors black & red. Also, cars & technology.
