Sorority recruitment as a junior at FSU?
I just transferred to Florida State University and I'm going into my junior year. I was thinking about rushing for a sorority but, I'm not sure if juniors usually get bids...or if they're even allowed to go through recruitment. I did some research and there's a brand new sorority that's being established this year, and I was thinking maybe that one would be open to juniors if the others aren't. I don't know. If anyone could help me out, that'd be great! Thanks :)

It is harder to join a sorority as an upperclassmen, freshmen are preferred. You are allowed to go through recruitment, make sure you have recommendations, good GPA, campus/community involvement, and leadership experience. http://greeklife.fsu.edu/Panhellenic/recruitment.h...
Colonizing sororities take women from all class years to have a balanced group. Recruitment for a colony is done differently at every school but it is something worth checking out and is a really awesome opportunity. You'll want to look at their blog, http://fsualphaphi.blogspot.com/ and they probably have a facebook page.

FSU has a very competitive recruitment. I would call the Greek Life office and find out if they have a separate upper classmen quota. If they do I would go for it making sure you have recommendations for every Chapter on campus. If a new sorority is colonizing they probably have a web site up that gives information and they are probably either just doing the first day of recruitment or not doing formal at all. Find out and get your name on a list so you can be invited to their events. That may be a very good option for you. Again the Greek Life office can give you more information on that too. Good luck on whatever path you decide to go down.

i'm guessing that neither of the persons who responded until now me are certainly in a sorority and are hence no longer qualified to respond to. Formal Panhellenic Recruitment is held at maximum campuses the two in the process the autumn or Spring (at times the two). in this a million-2 week era, you will meet each and all the Panhellenic Sororities at your college. interior the beginning up, you will communicate with each and all the chapters and by a recruitment counselor you will narrow down your selections. The Sororities will additionally start to shrink the style of PNMs (capacity New members) that they invite back each and on a daily basis. that's why it truly is spoke of as "Mutual determination." Recruitment ends with Bid Day the place PNMs get a bid from one domicile. Bid Day is the place you will meet something of your pledge type. jointly you need to finished the hot Member training technique. This varies by ability of Sorority. as quickly as you have finished the hot member technique and met all different standards, you would be formally initiated and then exchange into an energetic member of the Sorority. that's the final technique for all 26 NPC Sororities. each and each college is particularly distinctive from something. For precise data you need to head on your college's Panhellenic internet site.

Juniors can definitely go through Panhellenic Recruitment and they aren't more or less likely to get a bid compared to Freshman. If you plan on getting recommendations, make sure you start early and give the alumna plenty of time to send everything in. Greek Life is amazing and you will definitely enjoy the experience.
