  • I'm having trouble making friends in college, any advice?

I started at a new college in June. I've been here for a little over 2 months and I still haven't made any friends. I know the best way is to join student groups so I've been looking into clubs and sports on campus but I can't seem to find anything that suits me! I'm either not qualified or I can't afford it (many of the sports clubs at my school accept beginners but have pretty expensive dues for lessons and what not). I wanted to do sorority recruitment but again, very expensive dues. Meeting people in my classes is hard because most of my classes are lecture based so it's difficult to interact. I am looking for a job too, so if I get one I'm sure I can probably make a few friends then...but it may take a while to find one. A friend of mine keeps telling me to go out to clubs and bars by myself but I'm scared. I feel like I'll just go and everyone will be with their group of friends and nobody will want to talk to me. Also, I'm not even 21 yet so I can't buy myself a drink, I'd just be standing there looking awkward. Whenever I talk to my friends from high school they always tell me about how much fun they are having and it's so embarrassing that I have nothing to talk about except for my classes, I can hear people getting bored with me on the phone. :( Any advice would be helpful! Thanks!

P.S. I'm not a freshman if anyone is wondering, I transferred schools.

  • Signed a lease but the apartment is no longer available?

My friend and I signed a lease to live in a certain student living apartment about 2 months ago. We were told that we would have an apartment there and we paid our first months rent and all of the fees. But today we got a call that said they don't have any units left in the complex we chose but we can choose to live in one of their sister apartments. We do not want to live in one of the other complexes, we chose this complex for certain reasons (it's close to campus and I don't have a car). When I talked to the people at this complex they said that they weren't sure if we could get out of the lease but they would call corporate and find out. Can they make us pay even though we don't want to live in another complex? We signed up for this one in particular, I feel like it's their fault and we should be able to get out of the lease. I'm very concerned because I have never done anything like this before (I'm only 20) and school starts in a few weeks. Please help!

  • Sorority recruitment as a junior at FSU?

I just transferred to Florida State University and I'm going into my junior year. I was thinking about rushing for a sorority but, I'm not sure if juniors usually get bids...or if they're even allowed to go through recruitment. I did some research and there's a brand new sorority that's being established this year, and I was thinking maybe that one would be open to juniors if the others aren't. I don't know. If anyone could help me out, that'd be great! Thanks :)

  • Should I buy a MacBook or keep my HP?

I currently own an HP dv6700 laptop. I bought it in 2008. It's a pretty good computer overall, but I do seem to have more trouble than I think I'm supposed to have with Windows.

For example, sometimes webpages won't load and I have to refresh, or pictures on websites don't show up, and sometimes when I exit a window the same window will just pop up over and over, too fast for me even to click out of them! It's weird.

But anyway, I have recently been using a Mac at my college library and I've used my friends' Mac Books and I've come to find that they seem to be a little smoother in operation.

So my question is; should I buy a Mac Book to replace my HP? Or should I just keep the HP? Basically I want to know the pros and cons of Macs and PCs. Thanks!

  • He kept his boxers on during sex, is that normal?

I had sex with my significant other for the first time the other day (not my first time ever, my first time with him) and he kept his boxers on during it. None of my other boyfriends have ever done that, is it normal? I just thought it was kind of weird. Thanks.

  • I like this guy, but I'm not physically attracted to him, what should I do?

I think I'm starting to have feelings for a friend of mine. We've always had a lot of fun together and we click well...but I'm not physically attracted to him. Is this a big problem? Is there a chance the attraction might form if we start dating? What should I do? Thanks!

  • Can you help me with a financial aid question?

I already filled out my 10-11 FAFSA, and on the instructions it says to list the information of the parent you live with, which is my mother so I did. But, on her tax return she didn't claim me or any of my siblings as a dependent, my father did. I have to fill out a 'dependent student' form for school and send them a copy of my tax return/my mothers tax return. If she didn't claim me/my siblings as dependent am I going to get in trouble? I've lived with only my mom for going on four years now, and I get all of my support from her. I really need financial aid, and I don't want to mess it up somehow. :( Please help!

  • Can you help me with a university housing application?

I was recently accepted to a university for summer. I am applying for student housing and it asks which summer session I am applying for (A, B, or C). The problem is that I don't know which session I am going to attend, my orientation is in a month and that's when I will enroll in classes. Should I just pick the one I think I will attend and apply now or should I wait? What's weird is that the website says to apply as soon as you are accepted, it just doesn't make sense because I haven't enrolled yet. I'm just worried that if I wait I might not get housing. :( Please help!

  • I've had a headache/other pains for a week, what is it?

I have been having headaches on the right side of my head for about a week. The headaches also include pressure behind my right eye and just below my eye (like my cheekbone area) and the right side of my neck is sore (like the muscles or tendons or whatever is in there is sore).

[The neck thing might just be from sleeping weird but I thought I'd mention it just in case it isn't.]

I've been taking aspirin to kill the pain but of course it only helps for a little while. Does anyone know what's wrong with me? Should I be worried?

  • How much do I pay extra each month for an iPhone?

I want to buy an iPhone, but I'm unsure about how the plan works. I have a family plan with unlimited texts and shared minutes. How much extra would I pay each month for my iPhone? I know it requires a data plan, but is that the only extra expense (besides the phone itself)? Please help if you can! Thanks!

  • How long will it take for my passport to come?

I'm planning on going to Europe from the USA in July. The problem is that I don't have a passport. (But of course I haven't booked my flight yet!) If I apply for one in the next couple of days, is it possible to get it before the second week of July? I heard it takes a very long time. Thanks! :)

  • Can someone recommend a good tragic movie?

I have to write a paper trying to explain why a certain movie is a tragedy. I want to do a movie that is an original but I'm not sure which one would be good. I don't want to do something like Titanic, it's too cliche, I just don't want anything too popular that 10 other people in my class will write about. Does anyone have a suggestion? Thanks!

  • I love my ex, can you help me?

I'm still in love with my ex boyfriend. We were together for a little over a year and we've now been broken up for a little over a year. He broke up with me for a silly reason, I don't really remember that well. But he wanted me back a few months after we broke up, but I didn't want to get back together. A year went by and he dated a few other people, and I dated one other person (nothing big, it was actually a huge disaster). But, in my mind I always knew loved him. Now, it's gotten worse. He's the only person I can see myself with, and I seem to avoid other guys because of him. We still talk all the time, we're best friends. He knows I still love him but he doesn't love me anymore. I feel a little bit like the crazy ex girlfriend. Can someone help me? I don't really know what to do. Should I pursue this or get over it? And how can I? I would really appreciate the help. :)

  • Sex question, revised. Please help.?

I've been having a weird problem with sex. I start bleeding. It happened once in July, and again this past weekend. (I had sex a couple times in between that time frame and I did not bleed.) When it happens I bleed for a little while during/after sex and then it stops within the hour. Does anyone know why this is happening or how I can stop it?

  • Vice Presidential Debate questions.?

I know this is kind of silly but I have an extra credit assignment about the vice presidential debate. I'd love some help.

    1. Did each side present their platform well?

    2. What were their platforms?

    3. Did the person rebut the answer well?

    4. Did the person answer the question by the commentator before going into rebuttal?

I'm watching the debate right now, but I don't really know how to answer these questions.

  • I am jealous of my best friend. Advice?

I'm jealous of my best friend. When we're together people always seem to pick her over me. She's the one everyone wants to talk to. She's pretty and she always has guys after her. She shows me up in every way. Even when we go shopping together, she always find the best stuff first, and I, of course find nothing. I just feel inferior to her! She's my very best friend and I love hanging out with her but, I feel so unimportant. I don't want to be jealous anymore. I don't want it to ruin our friendship. What should I do?
