Should I buy a MacBook or keep my HP?

I currently own an HP dv6700 laptop. I bought it in 2008. It's a pretty good computer overall, but I do seem to have more trouble than I think I'm supposed to have with Windows.

For example, sometimes webpages won't load and I have to refresh, or pictures on websites don't show up, and sometimes when I exit a window the same window will just pop up over and over, too fast for me even to click out of them! It's weird.

But anyway, I have recently been using a Mac at my college library and I've used my friends' Mac Books and I've come to find that they seem to be a little smoother in operation.

So my question is; should I buy a Mac Book to replace my HP? Or should I just keep the HP? Basically I want to know the pros and cons of Macs and PCs. Thanks!

Update:

Someone said I probably have a virus, but I know that I don't. I already have anti-virus software. Also, I cannot use Google Chrome because it doesn't work with my schools BlackBoard site. I use Internet Explorer or Safari for my browser if that helps.

Also, please be nice. I'm just looking for some help! :)

hear me out on this one as i went through something like this before.

ur HP, ur model is on the RECALL list for overheating. call them so u can get it replaced. they have had a recall for ur model for a while now. i had the DV 9000, same thing with mine. when i first called up HP, i go some guy from india...as usual, telling me.....no ur model is NOT on the recall list, however i had proof from the website itself. it took OVER 6 MONTHS but they refunded my money.

1500 i paid for my laptop, brand new from costco over 3 years ago.

get ur money back, AND GET A MAC.

i myself am a PC fan, but latelly i have to say, even Windows 7 that was supposed to be the best thing EVER, is starting to make me sick.

    Windows:

    Pros:

    * Almost every game runs on it

    * Tons of programs run on it

    * More Cusomization on the computers is possible

    Cons:

    * SPYWARE, VIRUSES, ADWARE GALLORE!

    * Not as "nice" looking

    * Error message after error message

    Mac:

    Pros:

    * Very sleek and clean looking

    * Never had any viruses or spyware yet and it's been over 4 months. (long time for a windows user haha)

    * Lots of great built in programs such iMovie which is a REALLY good Windows Movie Maker and Garage Band which is very handy for me who makes movies

If your a graphic designer like me you need one anyways haha

    Cons:

    * Pretty much no games for it

    * Harder to find programs for it

    * Hardware you have to get through Apple most of the time and can't just go to Target and pick up a CD drive.

reasons to get a MAC over a pc:

    - It doesn't crash (OS X is UNIX-based)

    - It offers the best in digital music (iTunes, iPod)

-It provides the missing link in digital photography (iPhoto)

-It serves as a digital entertainment center (iLife, iMovie, iDVD)

    - It's portable (iBook, PowerBook, MacBook Pro)

    - It's built for the Internet (email, iChat, QuickTime, AirPort)

Mac comes equipped with everything you need to access the internet and run a website off your computer via Apache. Apache is a powerful, flexible, HTTP/1.1-compliant Web server known for its stability

    - Windows applications have Macintosh equivalents (Microsoft Office for Mac)

-It networks with PCs (Ethernet, AirPort, USB, FireWire)

    - It's beautiful (iMac)

-Security, security, security: Mac OS is based on OpenBSD, has only had one virus worthy of mention so far (which, BTW, spreads by relying on the user clicking it and then wilfully giving it the administrator password. Vista is only now getting User Account Protection (and it’s a Microsoft version-one feature, we all know what that means). On Mac OS X, it’s been like that ever since the switch to OpenBSD, so administrator privileges are not required for regular use (like running programs, you know.)

You already went wrong by buying HP. And it makes no sense to buy a Macbook when you seemingly have zero knowledge about Windows, which is the most user friendly of the two if I am not mistaken.

Change you're browser to chrome, Here's the download site -->http://www.google.com/chrome.

It should display pictures perfectly now and the webpages will load.

But before you do what i just mentioned download an antivirus, you obviously have a virus. Here's a free one -->http://www.avast.com/free-antivirus-download. Disconnect from the interent after downloading, restart your computer and press F8 during the booting process. Choose safe mode and run an antivirus scan. It should quarentine you're Virus or trojan. If all else fails, Call an IT dude, It;ll Cost alot less than buying a Mac book.

TO be honest i hate both OS's i am a linux guy but to tell you the truth the OS dosent matter on speed, yes windows is more vulnerable to viruses but that can be easily obtained. It depends what you use the computer for, windows is more for typing work and working and stuff life that plus there are more programs to windows, mac is more for music, videos, and crap like that. But its not the OS thats slow its the computer you probebly dont have enough RAM(look it up) most new compuyters have 2-8 GB's of RAM i have 4 and i still think mine is wicked fast, and also if you have XP yes get a new OS but if you are low on money just spend 300 Dollars for a new OS than a 1000 dollar mac. And talk to the computer Geeks and ask them to put mac on your PC instead of buying a whole new computer.

Those problems have nothing to the with the computer, it's more to due with the browser and not have flash player and java up to date. Also not clearing out internet cache will do this. So seeing as your problems are not computer related it doesn;t make sense to blow $1200 on a Macbook. When you have a perfectly fine computer that isn't even four years old.

Mac is a waste of money. You pay more money to be able to use less programs.
