Toshiba Satellite C55t-C5300 display problems?
One day I was using my laptop and was raising the display/lid to see better and the display went off! I pushed it back down a bit and it came back on but would go off at a touch.. It just got to a point where it wouldnt come on. I replaced the cable that connects the display to the motherboard with a new one and put a new display in it.. They didnt work either! But I connected an external monitor to the laptop with a HDMI cable and it works.. Im just not sure what happened as it wasnt dropped or whatever! Anyone have any idea?

What happened friend was that you misdiagnosed the problem while you did something good by replacing the ribbon cable and putting a new display in. You didn't pay attention to the magnetic contact switch. The glue came off the magnet and it has slid up to the top of the laptop screen now your computer thinks that the lid is closed all the time.
Try this experiment and see if this doesn't end the problem.
Go into the control panel find where it says power options find where it says choose what happens when the lid is closed. Select the word that says nothing click apply.
Now try it. If that helped the situation that verifies that the magnet lost its glue.
You might also try uninstalling the video driver then restart the computer and let it reinstall itself do that from device manager that might also help you.
