Can someone recommend a good tragic movie?

I have to write a paper trying to explain why a certain movie is a tragedy. I want to do a movie that is an original but I'm not sure which one would be good. I don't want to do something like Titanic, it's too cliche, I just don't want anything too popular that 10 other people in my class will write about. Does anyone have a suggestion? Thanks!

How about an older, classic film? I'm sure not many will choose those.

"He Who Gets Slapped" (1924) Lon Chaney & Norma Shearer

"The Unknown" (1927) Lon Chaney & Joan Crawford

"Now, Voyager" (1942) My favorite Bette Davis film. Tragic love

    "Dark Victory" (1939) Bette Davis

"Camille" (1936) Greta Garbo & Robert Taylor

Does the movie have to end in tragedy? If not I'd write about The Count of Monte Cristo. It's a really good movie and the main charcter gets put in an awful jail by his best friend for a crime he didn't commit.
