Is an oval trampoline good?

Looking at the Skywalker 17' x 15' oval trampoline, wondering how the oval shape compares to that of a circle? Would it have advantages or disadvantages? Thanks in advance.

My guess is that an oval and a circle are one and the same in this situation--see http://www.sundancetrampolines.com/safety/index.ht... for an overview of trampoline shapes.

From what I've experienced, most round trampolines don't offer a good bounce all the way through--because all the springs are focused on the center of the mat, that's where the best bounce is going to be. Moreover, no matter where you jump on a circular trampoline, it's likely going to send you to the center--and this lack of control is what scares the daylights out of most insurance companies, and probably the reason why so many kids get hurt on trampolines.

Not saying I don't recommend the Skywalker--I hear it's a pretty good brand for its price range--but if you're looking at features like safety and performance, or if you're using this for gymnastics or other sporting purposes, a rectangle or an octagon might better suit your needs.
