For most women that are formula feeding, their period returns within 10 weeks. If your bleeding gets worse in the first 8 weeks post-partum, go to your doctor so they can rule out any post-partum complications.
If you experience any of the following signs in the first 8 weeks, call your health care provider or visit your nearest emergency room:
bright red discharge for more than seven days after birth
discharge that smells bad
fever and chills
abnormally heavy bleeding (in which a maxi pad is soaked in less than one hour)

Should not be a period so soon. 6 weeks minimum before the body recovers from birth let alone restarts. As long as you are exclusively breastfeeding , you should not get your period back. WHO recommend 6 months exclusive breasfeeding and 2 years suplementary after that. It will keep your periods under control and also helps prevent breast and cervical cancer.

it's still early so i wouldn't count that as a period. I bled on and off for the first 6 weeks and not again until i got my actual period when my son was 9 months old due to breastfeeding
