Does anyone know if Military members are exempt from paying vehicle sales tax in NY?

Im in the USMC and I just moved back to NY from NC...I am a resident of NY but I bought my car in NC. Anyway will I have to pay all the sales tax in order to register my car here? And if anyone has an idea or can give me an estimate on how much it would be would be greatly appreciated:) The car is an 08 Chrysler 300 if this helps...Thanks

Why not just pick up a telephone and call your local NY state DMV office, and get the correct information directly from the source.

I have never heard of military members being exempt from sales tax.

If you paid sales tax to NC, then you may not have to pay it in NY, or you may have to pay the difference if NY's tax rate is higher. The tax rate probably varies by county as well.
