The only proof that you could use was documents, such as bills, tax forms or anything that was certified by a legitimate authority.

If you paid utility bills there, you may be able to get a transcript of your old account from the utility company. If you owned the property, the tax collection agency for that locality can verify that you were the owner during that period. If you bought a car while you were there, and still have the title for it with the old address showing, that may be enough (yeah, I know, it's a long shot). Old correspondence with postmarks in the right range, addressed to you there, can also be helpful, if you saved them.

The important question to ask the people who want this information is: "What will you accept as proof?"

A copy of your tax return, a bank statement or a past utility bill showing your name connected with the address should work fine.

Identify the inside of the house in detail, color, markings... Just like when you go to the police station to claim money. You identify the money, how much, what bills, was it in a wallet, color of wallet. ect
