Sexting? Against the Law?

My bf says he receives a lot of nude photos of girls he knows. So, my school was talked to about how its illegal to do that. Is there an age where its legal?

18 -- creating, possessing or distributing sexually explicit images of anyone under 18 is illegal. And there are rare cases in which teenagers have been prosecuted for sending images of themselves via text or computer, and for receiving them from others.

Over 18, you can do as you please.

I wouldn't do it at any age think of the repercussions. Whether you are 14 or 18 a nude pic of you out there in the internet/ half of the towns cell phone is not something you want to carry for the rest of your life. It could really ruin you do you really wanna be known as the girl who was stupid enough to send a naked pic to her boyfriend and he was @sshole enough to share it with all he's friends? Think before you act you might think your boy is not capable of doing something like that but you don't really know that fully and it's better safe then sorry. I hope your boyfriend is not stupid enough to be forwarding those to his friends because he could get in some big trouble.

If the two the photographer or the guy receiving the nude photograph are under 18 and don't have signed parental permission to take the photograph, the two or the two could be charged with having newborn pornography.

"Sexting" is not against the law. Child pornography is. So is sending pornography to a minor. "Child" and "minor" both mean under 18 (in this case anyway). So in short, yes, it's legal if you're both 18.

Adults can send naked pictures to eachother to their hearts' content. Any law against that would be unconstitutional in fact.

Yeah. If you're over 18. Other wise, taking naked pics of yourself is child pornography. A few years ago my MIDDLE SCHOOL had a lecture all about these things, because people were like making out in the halls and grabbing other people's buts. Crazy.

Its not illegal unless the girls that are sending the pictures are under 18, then its child pornography.

Its illegal mostly every where. There is no age. If someone sends a nude picture to someone the person that receives it and still has it on there phone and doesn't report it to anyone AND sends it to other people they considered a sex offender. im serious, I watched a show on it.

Sooo your ok with your boy friend getting nude pictures of other girls? interesting...

  • Its only illegal if the person sending the pix is underage

    Source(s): CHILD pornography is illegal
