Manchester United fans - what would be the strongest/best/most likely 'starting XI' that Fergie fields ?
this coming season - who will feature prominently and regularly in the first-team ?
I ask because im curious to know which one of the many foreign and homegrown youngsters will Fergie slot into the starting XI, as long term replacements for Scholes, Giggs and Neville.
Also if and when Hargreaves gets back to full fitness - would you want him to be in the starting lineup week in week out , or would you prefer Carrick or somebody else to get a chance in that role ?
and last season - which players at the club do you feel didn't live up to the hype/expectations or simply didnt cut the mustard ?
You happy to see Nani and Anderson feature as United regulars for years to come ?
And what did you make of Nuno Valencia's season in a red shirt ?

Van Der Sar; Evra, Ferdinand, Vidic, Rafael; Nani/Giggs, Carrick, Scholes, Valencia; Rooney, Berbatov.
I think Anderson's days are numbered and won't be used much. Smalling and Hernandez will be allowed to find their feet and introduced gradually. Scholes and Giggs will be used for the more important fixtures, perhaps more so in European games. I think Rafael will overtake Neville as first choice right back. O'Shea, Brown, Welbeck, Macheda, Gibson and other 'squad players' will cover for injuries but not be used if Fergie's first choices are available.
It's sad to say but I don't think we're ever going to see a fully fit Owen Hargreaves again. Even if he does come back, I think Ferguson will protect him a la Giggs and Scholes for the bigger clashes.
Carrick and Berbatov need to perform this season as I thought they were dissappointing last season. Nani has proved he can produce, albeit inconsistently so. He still reminds me of Ronaldo during his first two seasons. Promise, showboating but not much final product. He could take a leaf out of Valencia's book, who I thought was outstanding last season. Beat full back --> get to touchline --> deliver a good ball. This was the reason Rooney scored so many headed goals last season.

I am happy, this is a big season for Anderson when he gets fit, he now needs to be more consistent, if Hargreaves can get his fitness and form back then he is an obvious regular. Valencia had a good first season. I am confident Nani is going to be world class. Berbatov did not have a good season, neither did Carrick. I can see Gibson, Smalling & Evans getting more games and experience. I look forward to seeing Hernandez I think he has real potential.

Rafael/O'Shea

Vidic
Evra

Carrick/Fletcher
Scholes/Gibson (yes, i think Gibson will be used a whole lot more in a few EPL games)
Nani/Giggs
Rooney
Berba
Hargreaves is a brilliant player when fit. But sadly injury will postpone his comeback even further now and as much as I hate to say it, I don't think he's gonna find match fitness to compete for a starting spot against Fletcher and Carrick anytime soon.
Carrick was a player I was dissapointed in last season. A lot of the expectation was put on Berba but for me Carrick was the one who could've made more of a difference to the team.
I'm a fan of both Nani and Anderson. Sure they have consistantly put up inconsistant performances in the past but as we saw with Nani last season, if given a shot he can really impress. Anderson is a player who can make a real difference off the bench and adds much needed depth into our squad, so I would like to see him stay at United but for the next couple of seasons I don't think he'll find himself a starting spot in the team.
I wasn't too thrilled when United signed Valencia but as soon as I saw what he can do, I was an immediate fan. Having a winger with his pace, skill and pin-point crossing ability is great, but also the fact of how he tracks back to defend is something we havn't really seen on United's right flank for a while. Another great signing from Fergie.

"cut the mustard" I may have to steal that one..
Valencia for me was a great player
And I hope Ferguson leaves out the out of form players as for a lot of last season carrick seemed to be dreadful but was still being played in the majority of games here is my starting line up providing everyone stays.
Van der Sar
O'Shea/Rafael Vidic Ferdinand/Evans Evra
Valencia Scholes Hargreaves Gibson Nani
Rooney
With Hernandez being used when playing 4-4-2 instead of one of the CM's.
