Is it 'wrong' to buy items from pet stores?

People always say it's wrong to buy animals from pet stores. But what about items?

Isn't that indirectly supporting pet stores? But not everyone has a pet supply store near them and supermarkets sometimes don't sell things.

Well... if we don't buy items from pet stores our animals will die.

I must confess that I am pretty responsible for putting back items I have decided not to purchase in their respective places. I would say my success rate for doing that is about a 9 out of 10 (there are few days that I can be tired). But, by not putting items back in the right place has many negative impacts: 1. If I wanted to find a black sweater (for example) I would first to the sweater department and then at all black styles. If dropped off by the customer in a hurry and placed in the toy department -- how the heck would I know to look there?! 2. Not only does the store miss the sale, but they do have to pay their floor help to find these stray items and put then back in the correct display, etc. WHat really bothers me is when my husband and I go to Barnes & Noble in our area, they allow food and drink to be taken into the adjoining Starbucks where people will sit and read while sipping their special cafe latte' . Anyway, back to being annoyed -- there are many people who bring over several books, their latte', a muffin, etc. and when done, they just get u[p, literally leaving the books, their empty coffee cups right there in front of me!!

I and lots of people do not support pet stores at all because they sell animals. I buy all of my pet supplies at pet stores that do not sell animals and online. Here's a good website for pet supplies.

    http://www.drsfostersmith.com/

I get ferret food and toys for my cats and ferrets on that website.

I get cat food, guinea pig food, rabbit food, rat food, hay and hamster food at pet stores that do not sell animals.

I buy rabbit toys on this website.

This is a good website to get hay and guinea pig food. They have the best hay and best quality guinea pig food.

There are a lot of places that are way better than pet stores to get pet supplies.

Julia, thats the piont, to get pet stores to stop selling animals. They get their animals from mills and they dont even know anything about the animals they sell. Most of the animals they sell are sick, pregnant or have parasites. There are tons of animals in shelters that need homes.

i don't think its wrong. Don't worry about it because if people stop buying animals from their stores, they will eventually put an end to selling animals...
