1. Go to your local shop
2. Since you're starting out tell the guy there you want a 7.75 blank deck (or a shop deck if they don't have blanks). Most people start with size 7.75 then they go from there (if it's too big then the next time you get a deck get a smaller size 7.5 for example if it's too small get a bigger size 8.0 for example). When you get your brand name deck you might want to consider getting: Antihero, Krooked, Toy Machine, Cliche', Real or Deathwish. You might want to stay away from: Element, Plan B and some other companies, these decks are made in China with cheap wood and stuff.
3. About trucks, I can only recommend 2 brands: Thunder and Independent. STAY AWAY FROM THEEVES! And truck sizes, if you're getting a 7.75 deck you should get 7.5 trucks and so on.
4. Wheels, well get Bones wheels. Ask the guy for some smaller size wheels, not too small, medium size wheels. Wheels too big, you get wheelbite and you don't want that. Wheels too small, you can barely move.
5. Bearings, again, get Bones Reds bearings. They are the best bang for buck.
And the price for all of that will be about $110. Try to negotiate a price with him, just go lower and lower until the guy can't go lower anymore. $75 is a good price. Please don't go lower than that, support your local shops. And one more thing, NEVER GO TO ZUMIEZ!

make sure to get a good deck(board) that has good concave and is at least 7-9 layers of conadian maple as it is the best type of skate board wood also you should get 50- 55mm wheels because they areright in the middle of the wheel sizes and by the way bigger wheels are more for ramps and such smaller wheels are made for street middle wheels are good for both so 50mm- 55mm is perfect the bearings you should get are called reds these cost some money but they are worth every dime they are reliable and dont rust easy for a begginner you should where a helmet. to start skating and riding it you must figure out your stance. to determine your stance just walk up a step, whithever foot you step up with is going to be your front foot (right foot is goofy footed left is regular)now go get on that board just ask the guy at the skate shop for any tips or if you have any questions he shoulld be happy to help you oh and the average deck size most is about 7.5in width and in height i think its like 2 feet idk about that part
