Can I hook up my laptop to my computer to view it on the monitor?

I busted my laptop screen so badly that I can't use it. It is otherwise working fine. Am I able to hook it up to the cpu to use it?

Update:

It is a hp mini . I busted the screen badly and need to view my files.

Update 2:

Isn't that the same type cable that already attaches the existing monitor to the cpu?

Update 3:

Soooo I looked at the computer and looked online. It seems like I need a special one because my computer is so tiny. Guess I am taking a trip to Best Buy!

yup u can easily do that..first detach the cable that goes from u pc monitor to the cpu at the cpu end....once this is done connect that end to the laptop....there is a port usually located on either side of the laptop into which the cable fits..plug it in..then see ur keyboard on on of the function keys there'll be a pic of a monitor or something..press that along with the"Fn" key that is there on the bottom left of the keypad usually after u boot the system that is...keep trying until u get a display on the monitor..be patient it might tame more than once for u to get the display right..last thing..don't forget to power on the display.:-D

Source(s): http://www.notebookcheck.net/typo3temp/pics/4c3ba9... its the second port from the right in this pic..hopefully this helps u

There should be a place on your laptop to hook up an external monitor. Some laptops will automatically detect the monitor others you may have to press a key to activate the external monitor. So yes, you can do that.

I don't think that is possible but that would be kind of cool. You may have to go to a computer place and get your files transfered and buy a new computer.
