Movies about beliefs on religion?

Has anyone else ever thought that it's kind of unfair that whenever a movie that deals with a different concept of religion, or even about the absence of it comes out, religious people always make a big deal about it and try to ban it?? But whenever a movie dealing with the belief of their religion comes out, no one ever complains about it (not too many in comparison), not even the people who don't believe in it because they respect their beliefs, and yet it's mostly the religious people who most constantly tell about tolerance and respect to others when it's them the main group who oppress other's beliefs. I don't understand why. I mean, instead of trying to ban it for every single other person who actually wants to watch the movie, why don't they simply don't watch it and that's it?? I mean It's just a movie.

Update:

Yeah, it's mostly about Christian religion. For example "The Golden Compass", when that movie came out they made such a big deal about it that they sabotaged it. However, when "Passion of the Christ" came out they did made a deal about it but only because it didn't fitted THEIR exact view of it, not because it actually was about something concerning religion.

Christians don't talk about tolerance, but the love of God. For us to allow every ungodly movie to come out unchallenged, Satan will produce even worse movies. It isn't just a movie. It conveys ideas that go beyond entertainment, and lead people into deception and bondage. Many movies are extremely harmful and wicked, and should never be shown; much less produced. That just shows how wicked the imagination of man is.

As I recall when Last Temptation of Christ (1980something) and Passion of the Christ (2000ish?) came out people did have a fit and both movies fell in line with religious dogma to an extent. I think what you are referring to is when a non-Christian movie comes out is when you hear the absolute most uproar.

Like "Jesus Camp". It was a documentary, not a movie, but a whole slew of fundamentalists protested it because they said it deliberately showed them in a bad light.

Thing is, there wasn't even special editing or any commentary...Just followed around fundamentalist parents, kids, and counselors at a religious summer camp.

    And. It. Was. Terrifying.

    Guess the truth hurts.
