What are the negatives of Industrial Hemp?

I'm trying to find out more information about the plant I know all the positives and how much it can do, but I also know it is in the same family as pot. However, I heard that the industrial hemp is a different variation in which you cannot get high off of. So I just want to here any other negatives before I decide on this matter.

I don't like asking questions twice but I posted my first one at a bad time and only got a few answers so I am hoping for more in this one.

Update:

I would also like to know which way jobs would go because if you use it as another source you would create many jobs to farm it, and then you would need more to turn it into the product you want. However, there would be the loss of jobs from the sources that it replaced. I'm trying to figure out what number of jobs would be lost or gained from it. I would like numbers and sources if possible.

Depends what industry you are looking to use hemp for??

I believe at the moment in regards to paper production that the costs are extensively more expensive than current production via wood. Mainly due to limited harvesting season, manual handling and out-dated processing systems. So not a viable option at the moment. Also the cost of managing hemp would be more, as it would require more frequent harvesting, and replanting etc etc. Trees on farm land can provide multiple uses too, such as livestock grazing. Hemp on the other hand would require the removal of all stock, and exclusion/fencing of any livestock.

So the increased cost for the consumer would be a 'negative' ... however the reduced use of paper could be an environmental positive.

Hemp CAN be used for many purposes, but the Idea that it can fulfill the many needs of society is

some what misleading. Just because something can be used doesn't mean it should, for most of the uses hemp can be made to work, there are other plants that can do the same job better or more efficiently. It might sound cool using Hemp, but when you get down to $ and cents you can easily find more profitable ways of doing things. However there is a market for people who will buy products based on the fact that they are made from hemp and that creates a niche market, but don't be fooled into thinking hemp is going to save the world.

EDIT: But, if plants in general are used instead of man made chemicals, which can be very dangerous, even though sometimes more expensive, could prove to save money if health costs are considered.

Sadly to many people believe that hemp can be used to get high. I know, and you know it can't but the people who believe that are the idiot politicians in the government. They hear "hemp" and they immediately think it will lead to people smoking joints and getting high. It doesn't even have to have any basis in reality. It's a Political standing point that unfortunately will likely remain for many year to com.

1-The oil industry looses tons of business due to the reduction of nylon, rayon, polyester, and environmentally unsafe paint products being produced, just to name a few.

2-Logging for paper and plywood products won't be necessary

3-Cotton industry looses business when more clothes are made of hemp because they last longer

4-using corn for ethanol purposes will not be necessary

5-Unemployment rises in turn hurting government control over prosperity of the people
