What you have in the pictures looks like scale rot. It is caused by keeping the substrate too moist or not keeping it clean. Get some regular Neosporin and put on the affected areas. Change your substrate to paper towels until this heals. If you have an experienced reptile vet in your area, you may want to consider taking the snake in for a visit. Sometimes antibiotic injections are required for bad cases of scale rot.

If the snake is ready to shed, some of the infected scales will come off, allowing you to treat the new scales underneath if that is necessary.

Also, put your thermometer at one end of the tank or the other. You want to measure either the cool or warm end of the tank. Two thermometers are best, but you can get by with one. I personally use one probe type thermometer (costs about $11 at Petsmart) on the cool end of the tank.

Ok, I don't know what you mean by eye caps. Eye caps are typically referred to as unshed eye coverings on ball pythons. By saying this are you saying he has shed incomplete or are you referring to him being 'in the blue'? When did he go into the blue, as it will be another week or so until he sheds. Also, how humid is his cage? Are you monitoring his heat and humidity several times a day? There needs to be at least three thermometers, the kind you hang on the wall, in different places in your cage in order to know the true temperature. Also, you need to monitor the humidity that is in your tank at all times. 60 to 80% humidity is required for a ball python, so it should not be dry unless the humidity is too low. These dry scales hint at other problems that could be life threatening. If it is too cold in his tank he could be getting an upper respiratory infection. He needs 82* on cool side and 90-96* on warm side. I would suggest a visit to a vet as he could be seriously ill.

I possess a ball python that I've had when you consider that a youngster, and he has a lump toward the top of his tail that's honestly a deformity in his backbone. It hasn't long gone away and I do not feel it ever will. But if its a chew, simply positioned a few neosporin on it two instances an afternoon. Sometimes it would even be his meals that's nonetheless cast that you're feeling. Word of propose, if you're going to feed him reside prey, stun the prey previously. I fed a reside rat to my crimson tail and she or he bought bit lovely well and it left a scar, so now i stun her prey. Its now not animal abuse, its simply protective your cherished animal. :)

What substrate do you use for the bottom of your tank? It could be caused by aggravation due to some certain substrate you may be using.
