can I use cider vinegar in place of white vinegar?

I am making refrigerator pickles, can I use cider vinegar in place of white vinegar in the recipe?

    yes but will have different flavour and will be darker but if used for pickles other than those that are refrigerated ensure it is 5% or greater which is pickling vinegar instead of household .

    cider and malt pickling vinegar makes great pickled eggs and onions

    You can, but it will definitely be a different taste. Cider vinegar is much sweeter, and might not give the pickles the "bite" that you're used to them having. However, if you try it, you might find that you like the taste, so I say "go for it". If it's not something you like, then you know for next time. Because it's still vinegar, the effect should be the same.

    Cider vinegar is a much better choice. White vinegar is for cleaning, not cooking. There are many different type of vinegar. I prefer the sweeter ones like rice vinegar, white & red wine vinegars, apple cider vinegar, malt vinegar and balsamic vinegar.

    Certainly, but you'll end up with a different flavour pickle. I remember my mom using cider vinegar to make some of her pickles with. I loved her pickles.
