Nerf N Force Sword Thunder Fury?

Ok, so basically I have the Nerf N Force Thunder Fury sword with the guard thing taken off. I was just wondering though, if I color the handle with like markers or sharpies or anything related, will the color fade off after being used?

If it does, is there anything else I can use to color it without having it fade off and end up re-coloring it?

    markers would look horrible and would get on ur hands an come off. just used colored duct tape
