Driving on a Suspended License
Introduction
A license can be suspended for various reasons, including
1. Failure to pay fines
2. Failure to maintain insurance
3. Conviction for DWI
The seriousness of the charge will depend on the reason for the suspension (a suspension due to a DWI conviction is more serious than a suspension for failure to pay a fine). If you have been convicted of driving on a suspended license previously, prosecutors are likely to seek a stiffer penalty than for a first offense.
Penalties
Driving While Suspended/Revoked is a Class 1 misdemeanor, which means a person could be sentenced to a maximum of one year in jail and/or a fine of $2,500. In addition, a person’s license may be suspended for an indefinite period of time and his/her car may be impounded for months.

Jail? No.
You will be arrested, processed, and released on bond. Your car may be impounded.
My advice? Take care of this as soon as possible: the costs will only increase from here.
No, they will not forget about it or lose the paperwork.
Ever.

Yes...usually after a number of violations jail time can be given by a judge.
In Pennsylvania it can be given after 3 convictions.

It depends why it was suspended. If it was suspended because you didn't pay the renewal fee, then of course not. If it was suspended because you got a DUI, then probably.
