Where Can I Donate Knit Baby Hats/Blankets?

I have some baby yarn to use up and I would like to knit baby hats or blankets and give them to a group that will distribute them. I'm having trouble finding a group that will accept donations with the least amount of effort. I don't want to be required to donate every 3 months, I don't want to be required to participate in the list chatter, etc.. So many of the links on the internet are outdated or dead. Anyone part of a group you can recommend?

Contact your local craft-knitting supply store and ask them. I know that my local craft-knitting supply stores every year have a bin for donating knit hats, or blankets, or scarves, etc. They may know of a group. You can also contact your local WIC or Goodwill and find out if they know of any charity organizations. WIC gives support for expectant mothers as well as nursing mothers, they may be willing to give some donations of clothes like that to people they know would appreciate them. You may be able to start your own too, if you're a prolific knitter or if you know others. Churches will always take clothes donations and use them. There's some charities this time of year that don't care what you give a child, everything is welcome, and maybe you could do something there. Even just watch those "giving trees" at local stores and watch for something where it says "need winter clothes size 12 months" or something. There's a group in my area where they let the parents 'shop' for Christmas items using a token system (you get so many tokens per child depending on your income) and knit items there would be loved by so many mothers. Also pregnancy emergency centers tend to give clothes like that to mothers who weren't expecting to become mothers, and that might be an idea as well. Reconsider the mother with a love for handmade but lacking in ability as well. I mean... if you sell something to someone like that, the money can be used to donate to a charity as well, and you know she would cherish it as well. I'm alright with crafts, but have no time now that my daughter is around, it's just too difficult. One of the wonderful things someone gave her when she was born was a blanket with a tatted edging, it's just BEAUTIFUL. I don't dare let her use it right now. It's cherished and will be a keepsake for the rest of her life, and my aunt who bought it for her, the money was donated to a group that helps mentally challenged individuals. I wouldn't have been able to make it myself, and I wouldn't have ever afforded something so nice on my own, so I'm glad my Aunt found it for us and that someone donated it to be sold like that. Compare it to someone who might have gotten it in a gift bag who doesn't like home-made let alone knit items and wouldn't use it... I'd rather something I worked on went where it was cherished.
