Does anyone else hate the new Google Images?

I get a migraine trying the browse the new format - not enough white space and no aligned rows means it's more visually cluttered for me (Google claims it's LESS cluttered! Wtf).

Having all the 'pages' on one page now also means it takes longer to load, and if I pass over an image then decide I want to look at it after all, I have to scroll around instead of just clicking back to the page it was on. Another claim Google made - the smaller, bolded page number that they insert between 'pages' is supposed to somehow be EASIER to spot and use for separating search results.

Who else wants them to revert, or at least give the option for the WHOLE VERSION (no STUPID FREAKING FLOATING THUMBNAIL)?

Btw, I know there's a temporary 'basic' UI option, but you still get the frustrating (and I've found at least in my case, sometimes oddly pixelated) floating thumbnail on the resulting page if you click a pic.

I apologize for the rage but the new google seriously pains me to use. If they don't switch back, I'm moving to yahoo images.

Update:

I just found out while looking to see if there were any plans to bring back the old image search, and found out that google did the whole 'remove the url and image size' thing back in 2007 - and just like now, you had to mouse over to get the details. People hated it and demanded a way to fix it, so they returned it to the original - BETTER - way.

So... they have not learned from their mistakes.

i hate it too. but if you scroll down to the bottom of the page after searching an image there's an option where you can click 'switch to old format' or something along those lines. then you can get the original images site back so its far less crowded on the screen.

Good topic. I prefer the old layout where you could glean info on an image based on its URL, pixel size, etc. Knowing those things, you waste less time clicking it blind, not knowing if the source is scientific or some random blog, etc. It's more than just images people are looking for, it's the context of the page they appear on. Looking for medical images is a good example; you could get the Mayo Clinic or a gross-out website. With the new layout, you're forced to hover or click to get that info, which wastes time. Having more images per page is the only advantage I see in the new format. They dumbed it down and made it hard to gather source info without extra work. They may change it back if there are too many complaints. Or, they could have a cookies option for either layout to be the default.

    Yes.

It's cute in a way, but it sucks. They really should give folks the option of using the old way, which was cleaner and easier to navigate. Your mouse didn't get caught on the wrong image and start exploding it, but, you know, you're *trying* to get the mouse somewhere *else.* So that slows things down with all the wrong images floating up and floating down.

But this is not the place to kvetch. This is Yahoo, they'd LOVE to see everybody get pissed at their biggest competitor.

Somebody needs to look up Google's Customer Support email address and kvetch there. And maybe post it here so the rest of us can kvetch too.

I'm stuck with dial-up so I can't even use the thing anymore. Page 1 loads just fine but then it freezes on that and I have to wait 10- 15 minutes just for page 2 to load (not to mention the rest). And there's no way to skip back and forth through pages so it leaves me at a complete stand still. I like to draw and I'm constantly looking for photo reference so this new format is useless to me. Companies just assume everyone can get high speed. If this gets much worse I'll have to cancel my internet service altogether.

I have used Picasa for years. I dislike the new Google + intensely.

Afraid I will have to move to a new site like Flickr. I am very disappointed. Google has taken a great program and destroyed it.

Yeah, when the cursor hovers over an image it makes it bigger which frustrates me as I end up hovering over 50 pics and confusing my computer -_-

I really want the old google back, the simplicity of it is what I miss the most, now its all.......weird.

    yes.

i hate that they are trying to be more like Bing.

i loved the simpler interface they had before.

i'm a fan of minimalistic interfaces in general.
