Infertility Insurance and IVF?
I live in Louisiana and have insurance through Vantage, which does not cover any infertility issues. I have heard of supplemental insurance policies that can be purchased that will cover infertility treatments, including IVF. Does anyone have any information on what kind of specific policies cover such procedures? I am also curious about the Mandated Infertility Coverage in some states. I thought that Louisiana was one of those states, but I can't find any information on it. Does anyone have more information on that? Any help is appreciated!
OK, I have been researching more and found a supplemental insurance policy through Aetna. What it does is offers a percentage off Medical procedures and does NOT exclude fertility. More specifically, it would pay for 60% of IVF. While that doesn't cover it all, that's a HUGE help! Has anyone heard of such a plan or have any experience with Aetna?

I don't know of any private supplemental policies that cover infertility.
I also don't know of any INDIVIDUAL policies mandated to cover infertility. Some states require GROUP policies to cover infertility treatments, but even those are severely limited.
Louisana does NOT mandate any individual policies to cover ANY kind of infertility diagnosis or treatments, and don't require GROUP policies to cover in vitro, for example.
Here is the Louisana law: Louisiana: Prohibits the exclusion of coverage for the diagnosis and treatment of a correctable medical condition, solely because the condition results in infertility. The law does not require insurers to cover fertility drugs, IVF or other assisted reproductive techniques, reversal of a tubal ligation, a vasectomy, or any other method of sterilization.
