If you don't want to refit your door and jamb with holes to accommodate the deadbolt, you can use a surface mounted deadbolt, as shown at http://www.google.com/products?addr=detroit%2C+mi&... Hope this helps.

well usually the deadolt requires another hole to be drilled into the door. You would replace the knob according the knob's instructions, then, you'd need to cut a hole to fit the deadbolt (round hole thru the door and a hole thru the side for the bolt. You'll also need drill a hole to fit the bolt in the door casing.
