Any available information to back up these claims about frivolous lawsuits against Sarah Palin?
In response to a question posted by a Yahooer named Sid, the following was offered up by a respondent named, appropriately, Rupert G.
First, however, the question was: "What exactly did Sarah Palin do to get her so unpopular in the States"?
The answer, posted by Rupert G, was more of a rant in Palins defense, denying anything remotely
negative attributed to Palin. Too voluminous to quote it all, but the following has to do with how she was literally "sued" out of the office of Governor of Alaska.
I quite honestly have heard nothing regarding these so-called lawsuits.
Can anyone offer any documentation as proof?
Rupert G's partial answer follows:
QUOTE: They forced her resignation at Governor of Alaska because they totally bombarded her with every frivolous lawsuit they could imagine. She worked full time and was almost bankrupted trying to defend herself in the courts. All of the lawsuits have been thrown out of court, but it still prevented her from continuing as governor, so she quit her post for the betterment of her state. She wrote a biography to try to recoup the money she spent trying to defend herself. UNQUOTE
POST SCRIPT:
First 4 respondents: Can any of you read the English language?
I am not the one who has made accusations about "frivolous" lawsuits.
A prior respondent to a prior question made these accusations!!
I am curious as to whether or not there is any basis in fact for these accusations.
And I don't need a definition of "frivolous" thank you.

They were not actually lawsuits, they were complaints of ethics violations to the state ethics commission. As such, she had to defend herself against them as if she were involved in a lawsuit.
She did not make enough money as Governor and her husband did not make enough money to pay the expenses.
She set up a fund for donations to pay for her legal expenses and an ethics violation was filed over that too.
It finally got to the point she realized she was going to be so busy fighting the complaints that she would be unable to function as governor. Also, it was going to bankrupt her family. So she resigned and the ethics complaints pretty much stopped. She went on a speaking tour and was able to raise enough money to pay the legal fees and keep her family from going under.

There were many ethics complaints filed against her. Why it would take $500,000 to defend against 'frivolous' complaints is beyond me.
Even if she was paying $500 / hour for lawyer, that's still nearly 70 hours per complaint.
It suggests to me that there was substance to at least some of them. 'Frivolous' means that a claim has no basis in facts or in law, a claim so merit-less that it is not allowed in court. If someone files a complaint against you, and you ultimately defend it successfully, that doesn't mean that the claim was frivolous.

The answer is quite simple - character assassination by leftists - purely political, as they see Sarah Palin as a threat; if that was not the case, she would have been completely ignored.
