Anyone had a positive experience with Kay Jewelers?

Anyone have a positive experience with Kay Jewelers? I've heard a lot of people say negative things about the store and I'm curious if any had purchased an engagement or wedding ring there and had great service, quality, prices, etc.

A company called Sterling Jewelers owns Jared, Kay Jewelers, and J.B. Robinson. So when people have a bad experience at Kay and think they "took their business elsewhere" by going to Jared they, in truth, did not.

If you compare the jewelry at Kay and J.B. Robinson, you will see it's all exactly the same.

I know several people who went to Kay and loved the service and their products, including engagement rings, wedding rings, and watches. I also know people who felt the salespeople were overly pressuring and sleazy. It all depends on the individual store and your tastes.

Personally, I recommend going to a local jewelry store, where you will receive more personalized service with a patient salesperson who understands diamonds and will work with you. Shop around to make sure you're getting the best quality for your dollar, with an insurance policy on the ring. Get informed about the 4 C's of diamond quality (cut, clarity, color, and carat).

We only use Kay's and JB Robinsons (which are the same company.) They are always friendly and even when I missed the date to purchase the lifetime warranty on our wedding bands, they let me purchase it late anyway. For $50, they fix anything I may do it for my lifetime. Also, since my bands are white gold, the rhodium has to be replated every once in a while and that warranty covers that at well.

Sure have! My husband bought my engagement ring through Shaws (which is a sister store of Kays), and he had such a great experience with them that we decided to purchase our wedding bands from them too. We've gone to a few Kays in our area to do regular routine maintenance for our rings (we have an extended warranty, so I have to go in every 6 months), and each one we've tried we are met with kind, friendly people who are swift to assist us. Their prices are fair, and they have sales often, and they have beautiful jewelry!

I went to Jamesallen.com. It is the best way to customize a ring for your budget. You pick out the ring , then choose the stone from hundreds of choices. Very good customer service.

I think you should check their reputation out on the internet. In that vain you might find some other selections. Here are a couple of online diamond forums that might give you an idea of how their product and services match up to others: http://www.pricescope.com/ http://www.daimondring.com,/ http://www.diamondreview.com/

    Good Luck!

My husband and I love Kay jewlers, we have had such good experiences that he goes there for a lot of the holidays as well.

I did not. My fiance and I are younger than most people, and I know I look young (about five years younger than I actually am), and I did not feel that they treated us as serious buyers, so we left. It does probably depend on the store and who is employed there, though.

We ended up getting my engagement ring at Jared, where we had a great experience.

My boyfriend and I went there a couple of weeks ago, just to look around, and we were in there for about 45 minutes chatting with this sweet middle aged sales lady about jewelry trends, life, love, the works, and she knew we weren't planning on buying anything, either. She was just super nice, a real talker, not even trying to do any sales pitches or anything. Yeah, we walked out feeling pretty good :)

I know they think the cut of a diamond refers to its shape, that's enough to scare me away.
