I need some help buying candles.....?

The candles I normally buy tend to burn quickly, drip a lot and not give much light. This is exactly the opposite of what I am looking for. I am looking for candles to light the room. I don't want scented or decorative candles but, what do I need to look for when buying candles to get candles that burn slow, burn bright and don't drip? I am looking for short and long tapers and pillar candles but all for lighting. Are there any tips, tricks to get candles to burn even slower, even brighter and drip less?

Are there any brands that are better?

Thanks.

try soy candles, they last longer and burn brighter. any candle will last longer if you keep them chilled when not being burned-in the fridge--slows down burning time.

    all my best.

I MUST have candles in my house! There's just something about candles that air fresheners can't do! The most I have paid for a candle was probably about $16 for one of the big jar candles. I buy PartyLite and Gold Canyon. If I'm desperate, I will occasionally buy one from a retail store. My favorite scents are anything with pomegranate or pineapple, and fall/Christmas scents like Mulled Cider and Autumn Walk from Gold Canyon. I also love fresh scents like Spring Water and Clean Linen.

Hmmm, interesting. I'm not sure if this will help but I get most of my candles from Village Candle and I have been really happy. You can stop the drip factor by getting jar candles, that should solve that problem.

Colonial Candle Sells good Candles i would recomend them over all other brands,in my useage with them.to get them to burn slower usually Providing a Enviroment with less Oxygeon helps but thats about it. with dripping less you want to use a candle that burns at a lower Temp usually.

Source(s): http://www.colonialcandle.com/ and im a HUGE candle buff lol

Candles are frankly, lousy lighting choices if what you want is bright light. They just don't put out enough.

Dripless candles will say so on the labels. I actually like the emergency votives you can buy at the hardware store, they last for hours.

    Try www.tierra.net.au

They supply handmade quality candles with burn times up to 70 hours at very competitive prices. They ship Australia wide and internationally as required. When you purchase candles from Tierra or subscribe to their email list, they will provide great ways to enhance burn times and ways to eliminate drips.
