Which is the best route planner for non motorway journeys?
I want to plot a grand tour from Holland to Cherbourg via the Rhineland, Alsace, Burgundy, Auvergne, Limousin then North. Every sight I've tried so far gives me main roads only.

Use a old fashioned map and sign posts. That's what I did when touring France many years ago.

The AA routeplanner only has avoid motorways in the UK map section. The Michelin route planner has a lot more categories. You can avoid toll roads etc.

I know on AA route planner you can do this by using the via option. I think you put in your starting postcode and then your end postcode and then use the via option for different postcodes.
