Is there any difference?

Is there any difference between downloading something or watching it online? like if i download this movie which is 700 mb but if i watch it on youtube or some website without downloading it on my computer will it still be 700 mb?

    Usually streamed video is not as large because it is compressed more effectively to provide a lag-free viewing experience, as most ISP's do not have enough bandwidth to stream uncompressed video. Also, when you stream a video, it is not downloaded to your computer the same way a normally downloaded video is, it is usually stored in a cache that is deleted when the browser is closed.
