Would you take this trade?

Rashard Mendenhall and Pierre Thomas for Maurice Jones-Drew?

Update:

I purposefully left off the info about who my other players are, I was curious just what those thought about it on face value.

But here's the rundown:

I have MJD and was offered Mendenhall and Thomas.

My other RB's are: Cedric Benson and Montario Hardesty.

I'm thinking of passing as I would likely use Benson and MJD or Benson and Mendenhall. So it comes down to Mendenhall or MJD, and if that's the case, then it's MJD all the way.

I don't think this is quite as obvious as it seems. Normally, I'd say hang on to MJD, but if you're only carrying 3 RBs, you may need these other 2, although I like Thomas a lot more than Mendenhall for several reasons.

Here's what I'd do. If Bernard Scott is available, grab him as a handcuff to Benson and then keep MJD. This makes your RB corps look much more solid, since there's been no final word on Benson's suspension, and Scott is perfectly capable of starting and doing well.

Otherwise, it's a tougher call. I'd see if there was some other way to get more depth at RB.

Who are your other RB's? How can we answer that without knowing?

Who are you going to drop if you do that?

EDIT: Why would you want people's views at face value without the other players on your roster? What good is an opinion based on incomplete info? Most would assume that Thomas would be starting for you. The fact that he wouldn't be makes it an obvious decline.

There are many methods to analyze a trade.

Here are five I subscribe to:

    1. Am I better after the trade than I am before the trade? (am I putting more points on the field each week)

    2. Am I making my trade partner too good?

    3. Is my trading partner in my division?

    4. Will this trade help me make the playoffs by giving the owners in his division more losses?

    5. Can I use one or all of the players I'm receiving for leverage in another trade that will make me better after the final deal is performed?

After applying these questions to your trade, use the following scoring system to make your own decision:

+2 points = if answer to Question 1 is yes

-1 point = if answer to Question 2 is yes

-1 point = if answer to Question 3 is yes

+1 point = if answer to Question 4 is yes

+1 point = if answer to Question 5 is yes

You need a score +2 or greater to make the trade; otherwise, its not wise. I hope this helps you.

    Good Luck!

    i would take it.

mendenhall will be used more now that ben is gone for a few games, but thomas is in a pass-first offense and might get only 15-20 carries a game

if your giving up mjd id only do it if your 2nd rb is weak

if your giving up mendehall and thoms id only do it if your 3rd rb is good and have a decent flex option
