Isn't anyone listening to T. Boone Pickens?

T. Boone Pickens, legendary Texas oilman, knows what he's talking about.

I mean, the man has only made umpteen billion dollars in the oil industry.

Is anybody listening to him?

He has been touting natural gas for a number of years now as an effective replacement for a number of uses normally assigned to petroleum.

What's the status, if any, of an increased development in the collection and use of natural gas?

Mr. Pickens sponsored an initiative on the California ballot two years ago that provided generous financial benefits for converting vehicles to natural gas. For example, it would have provided public funds up to $50,000 for converting a diesel truck to natural gas. The benefits for drivers of passenger cars were much smaller. However, the initiative was defeated by the voters who did not want to spend public funds on the project. The voters recognized that Pickens owns the majority of the natural gas refueling stations. That is, the voters did not want to use public financing to make Pickens even richer than he is.

There's plenty of gas drilling going on, and it's way up from previous years.
